About Balanced Health NP

Root-Cause Medicine. Real Answers. A Provider Who Listens.

Balanced Health NP exists because too many people are told their labs are “normal,” handed a prescription, and sent home still feeling terrible. You deserve better than that. You deserve a provider who digs deeper.

Helping You Feel Your Best — Not Just “Normal”

Balanced Health NP was founded on a simple belief: health care should actually care about your health. Not just your symptoms. Not just your lab ranges. Your whole, complex, individual health.

Our mission is to identify the root causes of illness and create personalized, evidence-based treatment plans that help people feel their best — not just manage their symptoms. We combine the depth of functional medicine with the rigor of clinical science because you shouldn’t have to choose between being heard and being treated effectively.

Every patient who walks through our doors (or logs into a telehealth visit) has already been somewhere else first. They’ve been dismissed, undertested, or told there’s nothing wrong. We’re here to change that experience entirely.

Meet Melissa Tomon, CRNP

Melissa Tomon, CRNP

Melissa Tomon is a board-certified nurse practitioner and Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) certified practitioner with over 15 years of clinical experience. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania — one of the top nursing programs in the country — and is board certified in pediatrics.

But credentials only tell part of the story. What sets Melissa apart is how she practices. She takes the time to listen — really listen — to every patient. She reviews your complete health history from birth to present day. She orders comprehensive testing that goes far beyond what you’ll get at a standard office visit. And she builds treatment plans collaboratively, making sure you understand every step.

Melissa’s journey into functional medicine came from seeing the same pattern repeated in conventional healthcare: patients being told their bloodwork was “normal” while clearly suffering. She knew there had to be a better way — and functional medicine was that answer.

Her practice spans the full range of functional medicine, with particular expertise in Lyme disease, mold illness, gut health, thyroid disorders, autoimmune conditions, menopause and hormones, and pediatric functional medicine.

Personalized, Comprehensive, Root-Cause Medicine

At Balanced Health NP, we don’t practice “pill for an ill” medicine. We practice investigative medicine — the kind that asks why you’re sick, not just what to prescribe.

We Listen First

Your initial consultation isn’t a 7-minute appointment. Our team takes the time to hear your full story — your health history from birth to present, your symptoms, your concerns, what’s been tried before and what hasn’t worked. This conversation is the foundation of everything that follows.

We Test Thoroughly

Standard bloodwork misses the vast majority of functional imbalances. We use cutting-edge diagnostic testing — comprehensive blood panels, stool analysis, organic acids, mycotoxin panels, tick-borne illness testing, hormone panels, and more — to uncover what’s actually driving your symptoms.

We Treat the Whole Person

Physical symptoms don’t exist in a vacuum. We assess your physical, emotional, and mental health as an interconnected system. Your treatment plan addresses all of it — because healing one area without addressing the others rarely produces lasting results.

We Collaborate With You

You are the most important member of your healthcare team. Every treatment plan is built collaboratively. We explain the science, lay out the options, and ensure you’re fully on board before moving forward. Your health, your choices.

Why See a Functional Medicine Provider?

🔍

Root Cause Focus

We don’t suppress symptoms with medications — we identify and treat the underlying cause of your health issues so healing is real and lasting.

🧬

Personalized Care

No two patients are alike. Your treatment plan is built around your unique genetics, history, labs, and goals — not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

⏱️

Time to Listen

Your visits aren’t rushed. Our team takes the time to understand your complete health picture — because details matter and you deserve to be heard.

🔬

Advanced Testing

We go beyond standard bloodwork with comprehensive functional testing that reveals what conventional labs miss.

🤝

Collaborative Partnership

You’re an active participant in your care. We explain the science, discuss the options, and make decisions together.

🌿

Whole-Person Healing

Physical, emotional, and mental health are interconnected. We assess and address all three because lasting health requires a complete approach.
